Recent History of Program Partners

2014-2105 Chicago/North Our ChicagoNorth Hub program included a partnership between 4th graders at the Muslim Community Center Fulltime School (MCC Academy) and Sacred Heart Schools. Our Chicago Hub program was a partnership between Chicago Jewish Day School (4th graders) and Sacred Heart Schools (4th graders). Both hubs had a field trip so they could experience all three faiths. A combined Interfaith Community Evening took place at MCC in March 2015. East-West Hub This partnership began in February 2015 with a program between Islamic Foundation School (IFS) in Villa Park and Francis Xavier Warde Catholic school in Chicago. 2013-2014 2013-2014 included our largest single program ever--a Northern Suburbs Hub partnership between 4th graders at the Muslim Community Center Fulltime School (MCC)Solomon Schechter Jewish Day School and Sacred Heart Schools, as well as a Chicago Hub partnership program between Chicago Jewish Day School and Sacred Heart Schools. All four schools came together as part of our Interfaith Community Evening on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. Image 12012-2013 Four different Poetry Pals programs, involving more than 400 kids and six schools--2 Muslim, 2 Jewish and 2 Catholic--were in full gear for the 2012-13 school year. We celebrated program completion in two separate Interfaith Community Evenings on March 6th (our Chicago and Northern Suburbs Hub) and April 10th (our Western Suburbs Hub).  2011-2012 In 2011-2012 we created new programs as part of our Northern Suburbs and Chicago hubs, with partnerships between Solomon Schechter Day School, Muslim Community Center Fulltime School (MCC), Sacred Heart Schools and the Islamic Community Center of Illinois (ICCI). Click here to see the highlights from that year's Interfaith Community Evening and here for an article for a program hosted by Solomon Schechter. 2009-2011 Islamic Foundation School and St. Pius X: The 4th and 5th Graders from these schools have met for each of the last three years, and their poetry has been published in two different booklets and printed on posters that now hang in the schools. In 2009 student Charlie Mahay from St. Pius and poet-educator Adam Shames were interviewed on Different Drummers. Other video highlights here. 2009-2010 Muslim Community Center Fulltime School in Morton Grove and St. Brebeuf in Niles met for a Poetry Pals program. 2012-12-05_11-16-42_293 - Version 22008-2009 KAM Isaiah Israel Congregation and City of Faith Church: Young members of the synagogue and church met and through poetry and art developed new friendships. The students also created a quilt that hangs at KAM. This program was co-sponsored by Changing Worlds.   2009 Diamond Lake School: Bilingual Spanish and regular English classes met to share poetry and music. 2008  Muslim Community Center Fulltime School in Morton Grove and Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Jewish Day School gathered for the first program ever. textembed_stage
